Introduction

This page provides information on the server specifications for AppsAnywhere.

All downloads and release notes are are available from Latest Releases on AppsAnywhere Support.

These specifications only apply to the latest versions of AppsAnywhere.

AppsAnywhere

Supported Hypervisors

  • Microsoft Azure

  • Microsoft Hyper-V 2012 R2 or later

  • VMware vSphere v6.0 or later

  • OpenNebula with KVM

To import the virtual appliance to OpenNebula KVM you will need to convert from the provided VMware OVA template.

Any other format or conversion of the AppsAnywhere appliance is not officially supported. Please contact AppsAnywhere with any further requirements.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 to 2019

  • MySQL 5.7.8 or later

  • MariaDB 10.0 or later

Specification

A hypervisor will need to be configured to provide these resources, unless importing the VMware OVA template; in which case the specification will be configured automatically.

Standard

  • 4 vCPUs

  • 8 GB RAM

  • 32 GB HDD (thin provisioned)

  • Gigabit Ethernet adapter (1Gbps connection is ideal)

  • IPv4 address (IPv6 is not supported)

Azure

  • D-Series v4 or later (D4s v4, 4vCPU, 16GB RAM)

  • F-Series v2 or later (F4s v2, 4vCPU, 8GB RAM)

  • Custom managed OS disk (SSD) (500 IOPS per disk) – 32GB

This build is configured by default with the following enabled/configured: 

  1. Networking and DHCP enabled by default.

  2. Unrestricted SSH access. 

  3. The setup user account is allowed SSH access. 

  4. Amazon SSM Agent installed and enabled. 

Due to the above it is advisable that a security group is linked to the EC2 instance that restricts access via SSH/22 to specific IP addresses/ranges. 

The required steps to import this OVA image within AWS can be found on Importing a VM as an image using VM Import/Export.

Any other format or conversion of the AppsAnywhere appliance is not officially supported.

Minimum specification

  • Net Framework 3.5

  • 4 vCPU or higher

  • 8 GB of RAM

  • 20 GB free space on System Drive

  • Separate SSD or NVMe SSD for cache drive mounted on each server to the same drive letter (e.g E:\)

    • 250 GB for each Paging Server

    • 10 GB for each Admin/License server

Parallels RAS

The server hardware requirements to install and configure Parallels RAS vary according to software and end-user requirements.

Supported Operating Systems

Minimum specification

Gateway/Publishing servers

  • 4 vCPUs

  • 8 GB of Ram

  • 20 GB free space on System Drive

RD Session Hosts

  • 6 vCPUs  

  • 24GB RAM (20 concurrent users with 1GB per session) 

  • 60GB free disk space on HDD1 (OS – thin provisioned) 

  • 20GB HDD2 (if native applications will be delivered) 

The hardware sizing for the Remote Desktop Session Hosts should be reviewed to ensure the specification is sufficient for the volume of users and the applications being published.

Some applications may require additional RAM per user session or have other hardware requirements. 

The above recommendations are based on guidelines for 20 concurrent users where 1GB RAM per session is required.  This can expand to 40 concurrent users if only 512Kb per user session is needed. 

For light/medium use including basic MS Office application usage, on average 512KB to 1GB RAM per user session would be required.
